Privacy Policy

1. Who I am
The Bespoke Humanist is run by Anthony Sergeant, a Humanists UK accredited wedding celebrant working across Northern Ireland. I am the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy, which means I decide how and why it is used.
Email: bespokehumanist@gmail.com
Phone: 07533 178188
2. What information I collect
When you get in touch. Your name, phone number, email address, the type of service you are interested in, your ceremony location, a description of your day, your timeline and your wedding date if you know it.
While we plan your ceremony. The names and contact details of both partners; details about your relationship and story, such as memories and inside jokes; your ceremony date, time and venue; the names of family, friends or readers you would like involved or mentioned; your choice of readings, symbolic gestures and music; and anything else relevant to your ceremony that you choose to share with me.
Legal paperwork. If your package includes legal documentation support, I may handle the details needed to support your marriage paperwork.
Sensitive information. Some of what you tell me may reveal sensitive things about you, such as your beliefs (for example, that you want a non-religious ceremony) or your relationship. You choose what to share. I only use it to plan your ceremony.
The Vibe Quiz. Your answers stay in your browser. The website does not store them or send them to me. I only receive your score if you choose to click the button that opens an email to me.
Visiting this website. If you click “Accept” on the cookie banner, I use Google Analytics to see how the website is used (see sections 8 and 9). If you click “Decline”, no analytics are used.
3. How the contact form works
The contact form on this website does not send your details to a website server or database. When you press “Send inquiry” it opens your own email app with your message already filled in. Nothing is sent until you press send in that email. Once sent, your message arrives in my email inbox.
4. Why I use your information
- To reply to your enquiry, and to take the steps you ask for before we agree to work together.
- To plan, write and deliver your ceremony once you have booked me.
- To keep any records I am legally required to keep, such as invoices and payment records.
- To understand how the website is used, but only if you accept analytics.
The legal basis for this is that it is needed for a contract with you (or to take steps towards one), that I have a legal obligation, or that you have given your consent. Where you share sensitive information with me, I rely on your explicit consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting me.
5. Who I share your information with
I will never sell your personal information, pass it to anyone for marketing, or share it with anyone else. The only exceptions are:
- Where you ask me to, for example helping with your legal marriage paperwork, which involves the registrar.
- Where the law requires me to.
- Services I use to run my business, such as my email provider (Google Gmail). They store your information on my behalf and only for that purpose.
6. How long I keep your information
I keep your personal information only for as long as I need it for your ceremony. That means until your ceremony is complete, or until you tell me you have decided not to go ahead, or your enquiry does not lead to a booking. After that I delete or securely destroy it.
The only information I may keep for longer is anything the law requires me to keep, such as invoices and payment records for tax purposes.
7. How I keep your information safe
I store your information securely in password-protected accounts and devices that only I can access, and I only collect what I need. If I ever become aware of a data breach that puts your rights at risk, I will tell you and, where required, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
8. Third-party services on this website
- Google Fonts. The website’s fonts are loaded from Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
- Google Maps. The map on the home page is provided by Google. Google may receive your IP address and may set its own cookies. See Google’s privacy policy.
- Google Analytics (only if you accept). This shows me, in summary form, things like which pages are visited and what type of device is used.
- Links to other sites, such as Humanists UK and Google reviews, have their own privacy policies.
9. Cookies and local storage
This website stores one small item in your browser to remember whether you accepted or declined analytics. It is not used to identify you. If you accept, Google Analytics may set cookies. To change your mind, clear this website’s data in your browser settings and the cookie banner will appear again.
10. Your rights
You have the right to:
- be told how your information is used (this policy);
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you;
- ask me to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask me to delete your information;
- ask me to restrict how I use it, or object to how I use it;
- withdraw your consent at any time.
To use any of these rights, just email or call me. I will reply within one month.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please contact me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
12. Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
